Located in Brooklyn, New York,  Maqām Studio is a space where ancient and contemporary musical sounds meet local communities. Through intimate performances, live recording sessions, and archival preservation, Maqām Studio shares and celebrates the rich musical world of maqam traditions, practiced in regions stretching from North Africa, through the Middle East, to Central Asia. Founded in 2023 by composer, trumpeter, santur player, and vocalist  Amir ElSaffar, the project is a crossroads, bringing together musicians, artists, and thinkers  working at the intersection of music making, sound experimentation, and community building.
