Maqām Residency

The Maqām Residency Program supports musicians by providing dedicated space and production resources to develop new works. Artists-in-residence join a vibrant creative community by connecting with fellow musicians and sharing their works-in-progress with live audiences.

In September 2026, the Maqām Studio will host the workshops of Amir ElSaffar’s upcoming opera, Ruins, featuring 17 musicians.

In September 2025, pianist, singer, and composer Sonya Belaya completed and rehearsed her latest interdisciplinary work, Yazik, at the studio, which premiered at Roulette in September 2025.

In October 2026, the studio hosted composer and sound artist Lorenzo Bianchi-Hoesch, as part of his Villa Albertine Residency.
